StFXAUT Solidarity Rally and Dinner
The StFXAUT will hold a solidarity rally on Friday, February 1st at Chisholm Park in Antigonish. Our members will be joined by more than a dozen pickets from across Canada and Nova Scotia, representing the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT), and the Association of Nova Scotia University Teachers (ANSUT). Other unions off campus and on campus (the NSGEU and CAW), along with students and community members, are also invited to attend to demonstrate their support for us during our strike. All members are encouraged to join the rally whether they are on picket duty or not.
The event will include the presentation of a $1 million cheque from CAUT to support members if we face any emergency funding issues during the strike. The interest-free loan demonstrates the national support that StFX AUT has, and ensures members they have the means for members to continue their strike until we are able to negotiate a fair and just settlement for all members.
The event is open to the public and creative displays of solidarity are encouraged by members (music, costumes, banners, signs, etc.).
